About Laura

I’m Laura Williams, a high school math and theater teacher, union leader, mom, and advocate for equitable, student-centered education. With 15 years of experience teaching some of the most at-risk students in my district, I’ve seen firsthand what our schools need to help every child thrive. I know how powerful it is when educators, families, and communities work together to support students and how frustrating it can be when systems fall short.

Outside the classroom, I serve on the board of my local teachers union and my Democratic legislative district, where I work to advance policies that prioritize sustainable public education, educational equity, and community voice. I bring deep knowledge of our public school systems, a collaborative mindset, and a relentless belief in what’s possible when we lead with care, integrity, and courage.

I’m running for school board because I know our schools can be better and I’m ready to do the work to get us there.
